City of Toronto crews are on local streets for another 12-hour pothole blitz on Saturday.Workers will be fanned out across Toronto from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. as they work to repair as many pesky potholes as possible on expressways, major roads, and neighbourhood streets.So far, more than 75,000 road craters have been filled in since the start of the year.A city spokesperson said Saturday’s pothole blitz caps a week-long effort where city crews worked extended hours to prioritize repairing the pesky potholes.Those driving or cycling are advised to expect what the city called minor delays around pothole crews. RAWALPINDI, Pakistan (AP) — A raid on militants in Pakistan’s southwest in response to an earlier attack on soldiers left seven troops, six militants and a civilian dead, the army said Saturday. The operation continued for two days after a group of militants attacked a camp of soldiers in the Qila Saifullah district of northern Balochistan province early Friday. The militants also held hostage three families, including women and children, at the residential area of the army camp, the army said.No group immediately claimed responsibility for that attack. CHICAGO — A man is dead after he was shot in the lobby of an apartment building in Dearborn Homes on the South Side Saturday morning, police said.According to police, a 30-year-old man was standing in the lobby of a residential hotel near the 2700 block of South State Street around 2:43 a.m. when he got into a verbal altercation with an unknown man who produced a handgun and shot him. AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Police have identified a 41-year-old man who was killed in a single-vehicle crash on the I-35 Service Road in north Austin last Saturday. The crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 6 in the 13200 block of North IH 35 Service Road northbound. The Austin Police Department responded to the single-vehicle crash, which involved an SUV driven by Lucas Barth, 41.Barth was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.This incident is being investigated as Austin's 33rd fatal crash of 2023, resulting in 33 fatalities for the year.
